So I'm gonna start keeping a lil' blog here, letting you know what's going down in my life, musically, and sometimes personally. It'll probably end up being me rambling on about whatever comes into my head, whilst pretending that all you actually want to know...
Firstly, apologies about the title, it just seemed traditional to make a cheesy nerd joke as the title on the first post. I promise it won't happen again...
So lots of exciting stuff happening!
I've been slowly putting together an EP, which will hopefully be released within the next few months (I've got two songs just about finished, and the outlines for several others). I plan to have 5 or six songs on it (I may even get carried away and go an album length EP), but there might be a secret track at the end, penned by me, but being sung by someone who, after he's built up some more confidence, has the potential to be a really good singer!
I've been playing a lot with a good friend of mine George Begbie, and together we form the band "Vino". We've, as of writing this, only had two real gigs, and only one official gig, but that official gig *was* a sellout gig at the Cygnet Folk Festival in Tasmania (Well I say "sell-out", it was more that the festival sold out, and we happened to be playing there, than because of us, but it's nice to dream), which went *Really* well.
The only issue that I had with it, is as part of our image, we wear full dinner suits, and black fedora's, and it was absolutely stinking hot down there... The jacket didn't stay on very long...
Other than that, I've been pretty flat out with things happening at the Conservatorium of Music. Things went quite well last semester, and while I didn't get the marks I was hoping for (I contracted bronchitis part way through the year, and lost several months of study time :( ), I was still happy with the results.
Well I think that's about it from me for this f1rst p0st, I want to leave something for the next one!
